AP Calculus BC is an introductory college-level calculus course. Students cultivate their understanding of differential and integral calculus through engaging with real-world problems represented graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally and using definitions and theorems to build arguments and justify conclusions as they explore concepts like change, limits, and the analysis of functions.
Syllabus - This syllabus is your guide to a course and what will be expected of you in the course. It includes course policies, rules and regulations, required texts, and a schedule of assignments. This syllabus tells you nearly everything you need to know about how the course will be run and what will be expected of you.
Pre-Course Assignment - This assignment is required and will count towards your grade. I expect that you complete everything before the first day of school.
Help Sessions - I am available for extra help EVERY morning. Occasionally, I will have a meeting scheduled for on one of these days so it is always a good idea to check with me. Help sessions are a chance for you to come prepared with questions or an assignment that you want to work on. Also, there is a good chance that there will be other students from other math classes in the help sessions. I will rotate to help everyone.
Required Supplies - It is your responsibility to come prepared to class each day!
- 2 Composition Graph Ruled Notebooks (This is required and part of your grade! It should not have perforated pages that tear out and it should not open from the top. See image below.)

Keeper Information - “Keepers” are a collection of important formulas, facts, and procedures that you will assemble during the semester. How will you know if something is a keeper? I will tell you! Keepers will be an easy grade for you if you follow these directions:
Tips for keeping an amazing Keeper…
- Keepers should be written in a notebook. THE ONLY THINGS THAT SHOULD BE WRITTEN IN THIS NOTEBOOK ARE KEEPERS! NO HOMEWORK, NO PERSONAL NOTES, NO OTHER SUBJECTS!
- Keepers should be neatly written and numbered.
- You should only put one keeper on each page.
- You should write only on the front of each page…save the back of the page for any additional questions you may have.
- Color of some sort should be added to the keeper. If this means writing in markers, that’s fine. Color should be added to highlight problems you reworked, items you think are important, or questions you may have about the notes. Simply scribbling lines down the paper in blue and black pen is NOT what we consider colorful! Color should be strategic and meaningful!
- If you are absent and need to make up a keeper, skip a page in your notebook and borrow a friend’s keeper. THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!
- Have your keepers in class every day.
- I will collect keepers to be graded on specified days.
